Hot vs Cold

Explaining the why Hot Makes a Difference and Other FAQ's

Question: Are all high-pressure washers created equal?

Answer: No! In fact pressure-cleaning systems fall into two very distinct categories; Hot Water Pressure Washers & Cold Water Pressure Washers.

Question: Even when both pressure washers have the same pressure and same flow rate with the same capability of cleaning in or outdoors, how does one choose which to go with?

Answer: Hot water packs a powerful energetic punch when released into the cleaning equation. This energy also causes a reduction on the water’s surface tension allowing it to easily and more effectively penetrate the molecules of grease and grime.

Question: How does Platinum Pressure Washing get things clean?

Answer: We use three key elements: Heat, agitation and soap. When used correctly these three key elements successfully remove grease, grime, sap & dirt.

1. Hot water, creates a high speed molecular action that causes the cleaning agent to be more active and reduces water’s surface tension so it can effectively penetrate grime at the molecular level. Hot water also kills mold and bacteria.

2. Agitation, is the impact that comes from the water volume and water pressure hitting the surface.

3. Soap, chemically breaks the bond between dirt and the surface. Detergents use softening agents to emulsify the oil and grease-this is the process in which two or more immiscible liquids, like oil and water, no longer repel each other but actually mix. Once the soap agitates with the oil and water they are able to mix forming an emulsion, the dirt-still clinging to the oil and grease-is carried away in the wash water.

Hot water pressure washers bring together a perfect balance of all three of these key elements to deliver pressure-cleaning perfection.

Question: Does Hot water clean better?

Answer: Yes! The rule of thumb is simple: whatever cold water cleans, hot water will clean better and faster. You wouldn't wash your dishes in a sink of cold water. Why? Because it wouldn't get them clean! There is a reason hot water is used, it works.. Cold water merely pushes the grime around. Hot water eliminates the bacteria and mold from your site, thus ensuring longer lasting benefits.

Question: Does a hot water pressure washer cost more?

Answer: If you choose the Hot Water Pressure Cleaning system,  over a Cold Water Pressure Cleaning system, you may expect to pay more due to the complexity of heating hot water while under pressure.  The long term benefits of the effective and thorough cleaning with hot water will outshine the cold water method.

Platinum Pressure Washing has two hot water pressure washers, capable of 4000 psi pressure, with a range of 100 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on what’s being cleaned. We can effectively, professionally and quickly clean equipment, parking lots, sidewalks, roofs, siding, decking, patios, pools, etc. while limiting any impact the cleaning may have on a businesses day to day operations, or disturbing residential properties.

Question?  Why should a building or parking lot be hot pressure washed?

Answer: Mold and mildew, lichen and moss. Walking on these bacterial substances can be like walking on snow and ice. Hot water not only removes these unpleasant substances but kills the bacterium that causes them ensuring regrowth is much slower. Chewing gum can be removed with ease. Hot water alleviates the amount of time a cold water pressure system might have to hover over an area to get it clean, thus eliminating erosion or damage to the surface being cleaned.
